Typically they have smooth surfaces from the flowing water that makes the an excellent medium for carving small text. Rounded edges on the top and bottom of the stone are common traits. While a large percentage can be oval in shape each of these stones is like a snowflake with no two alike. The stones generally come in a range of earth tone colors. We select stones on a random color basis but we do offer the ability to select a color for an added fee. On average these weigh approximately 4lbs. On this 10″ stone there will be one measurement on the stone 9-10″ in length again random with the other measurement usually less as few are round in shape. The rock is chosen for one face that is clear of defects to ensure a nice clean engraving. These are meant to lie flat on the ground at a grave or in a bed as a memory stone. The back face of this stone is not going to be defect free. If you have an application and need a double faced stone that is defect free contact us for a quote. Often a stone will have a chip on the back face and as long as that is not prominent from looking directly above the stone we will use that stone. Engraving Here you have character counts that are absolute. In the endearment lines we will break words to get as close as we can to the number per line. If we can not, we might contact you back to change your text or refund. All counts are to ensure a good clean deep engraving to ensure a long lasting tribute.
